It's official, ladies -- the world has fed us all a line of excrement. Let's forget the trite sayings like "You go, girl!" and constant references to shoes and lattes. It's time to focus on what makes a budget actually work. You know there's more to making your money work for you than putting together some fancy spreadsheet, and doing well financially is a lot more than just "saying no" to anything that feels good. Let's talk about some practical ways you can make the same dollars go farther every week, every month and every year.
Spend a Minute Thinking about What You Really Want
Far too many women have heard the advice of "find your passion" restated a million times and in a million different ways, but what does that really mean? Passion is wonderful, but personal fulfillment is usually a lot easier than you make it out to be. Now, spending hours journaling and blogging about things you'd love to do "if only" is great, but it can get a lot easier than that.
Think about what you do on a daily basis. Now filter out sleeping, eating and doing things you have no choice but to do. If anything's left, there's a good chance that's your passion. Maybe it's working in the garden, or maybe you've got a novel or two hiding in the back of your mind. This relates to your budget because your time and your money are limited things, and you should only put them into things you absolutely need or things that will take you closer to your personal nirvana.
This line of personal discovery really does just take a minute.
Don't Let Pride Run Your Life
Some people think that debt is always evil. While it isn't wise to dig yourself into a hole so deep that you can't see daylight anymore, no one's suggesting that payday advance lenders don't have a time and place. They do, and that time is when your back is to the wall and you've got kids to feed. Let them see that no matter how bad the situation gets, you can swallow your pride and do what has to be done. Living on constant loans isn't wise, but sometimes they can be real lifesavers. Once you're back on level ground, you can budget your savings a bit more carefully so the next problem doesn't knock you for a loop.
