I think my brother is born to become a businessman. From cell phone, to laptops, to cars and now he has expanded his business and has acquired a franchise of a food stall.

On Party Planning

I read from the blog of my good friend Jacqui about her party planning updates for the first birthday party of her son Migo and I can’t believe it that even though she prepared less than a year in advance, she still had a difficult time booking for a venue and the entertainment for the party as most of her first choices are already booked when she inquired.

This means that I have to plan really way in advance for our baby boy’s party. I initially wanted to have his Christening at a club house and get a caterer but I had a change of heart after learning Jacqui’s story. Now my plan is just to have a simple Christening for our baby boy and I will start preparing for our son’s first birthday party while I am planning for the christening so at least I have 11 months to prepare.

I actually have a theme in mind for his party. We can have a pirate party and order pirate costumes but as per Jacqui’s advice it is not a recommended theme for first birthday party as most of the decors for a pirate theme party are skulls and skeletons which are not suitable for kids. I was also thinking of Cars theme as there are a lot of party decors for this theme plus I can buy many items for this theme in Divisoria but this has been a very used theme already for a party. So now I am thinking to have a Circus theme and rent carousels, acrobats, stilt men, game booths and the like to turn the venue into one Circus.

I better start talking to hubby about this so I will know from the manager how much budget will he give me for his son’s first birthday bash.

Adobo Recipe from Del Monte Kitchenomics

Adobo. It is a food that we can say is distinctly Filipino. This is also actually the first dish that I tried cooking as my mom and my aunt said that it is very easy to cook.

Ingredients:

• 1 pack DEL MONTE Sandosenang Sarap All-in-One Seasoning (18 g)
• ½ tbsp oil
• ½ kg pork kasim, cut up
• 1½ tbsp DEL MONTE Red Cane Vinegar
• 1 pc small laurel
• ¼ tsp peppercorn, crushed

TY to Piso Fare

I am so happy because I was able to successfully avail of Cebu Pacific’s piso fare. Thanks to my friend, Kathy, who alerted us in Twitter of the promo so I will really need diets for quick weight loss so I will be in tip top shape when we hit the beach in a few months.

Waiting Game

Looks like I can wear lingerie soon as I am about to give birth earlier than expected. We had a very stressful week last week, we were running from home to hospital and we are also moving things from our old room to our new room. Last night, while waiting for hubby, I moved my clothes from my old closet to my new closet. I got a bit dizzy after doing it and when I wake up this morning, I already have bleeding.

My mom and my husband wanted me to go to my doctor already but I still need to shop for some of my stuffs that I will need for the hospital. So I told them that I will bring Bela to school first and we will go to SM after to shop and that is what I did.

When I reached home, I called my doctor and I was advised that I should go to the delivery room if I feel any contractions. If not, I have to see her tomorrow for check up. This is really exciting.

Facebook breakthrough

I was looking for stainless steel drums because I promised my brother in law that I will help him find one for one of his project at work, but then I was distracted by the buzz of my best friend in yahoo messenger.

His car has been missing since January 2010. He reported this to the police and to his insurance provider but it has been almost six months already and there is still no news on the whereabouts of his car. And so he was surprised when he saw in Facebook a picture of his car (he was able to verify based on the conduction sticker of the car in the picture) being driven by a certain guy who lives somewhere south.

He was able to trace the address of the driver of the car and the next day, he went to the area where the guy lives and he was surprised to see his car parked in a fast food chain. He waited for the driver to come out and when the driver is already approaching his car, he confronted him.

After exchange of words and confrontations (to the delight of the bystanders watching them), they ended in a police station. It turns out that the guy who took his car was a friend of his friend. The guy was denying that he carnapped the car and he was claiming now that the friend of my best friend lend him the car which he has been using for six months now.

The car is still with the police authorities until further investigation but the guy who took the car is already in jail. Thank goodness for facebook, because if not, my friend won’t be able to recover his car.

Why do an Online Backup?

It was a busy day at work today because three of our PCs have been detected to have malicious software and we were ordered to remove the PCs from the network and reformat and reinstall everything. Specific order has been given that no files should be save and restored to their new PC that is why one of the user is almost at the brink of tears because all of her pictures ever since digital camera has been invented is stored in her local drive. She was really begging us not to reformat her PC and let her copy the pictures but there is no way we can do that.

That is why it is really important to have an online backup so at least all your files are safe no matter what happens to your PC. I was in the same situation before when the hard disk of my PC crashed and I was not able to recover all of the pictures saved on my C drive. That is why from then on, I started doing online backups so I will have the security that all my important files and pictures are safe no matter what happens to my PC.

Our local carrier here Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines are again offering promo fares for both their domestic and international route. Travel period is until September 2010 which means that I have already given birth by that time so I am really tempted to make a reservation even just for domestic travel. The only thing that is stopping me is the thought that my baby is still too young to travel that time.

I tried asking for hubby’s opinion and he said that he would prefer if we wait for a few more months before we take our baby boy to travel by plane. He even said that, who knows, in 2011 we might be able to have an Orlando vacations as he might have a training by that time and he won’t leave without us. So he said that I might just have to extend my patience for a while and he promised that we can have a vacation of a lifetime with our kids when the right time comes – that is when we have the budget and our baby boy is already big enough to travel by plane with us.

A Different Kind of Adventure

I got really excited after reading this post because I have always wanted to try riding a hot air balloon (especially after I have watched the movie Up with my daughter). A friend is in Arizona right now and I have seen their pictures of the Grand Canyon and I was really amazed of its beauty. Now I can imagine a Sedona hot air balloon adventure while flying through the Grand Canyon. Now that is one of a kind experience.

Leap Frog Fans

B is now starting to enjoy her Leap Frog toys. She received the Leap Frog Leap Pad as a gift from her uncle when she was just one year old. Then we bought her Leapster toy two Christmas ago and last Christmas we got her the LeapFrog Clickstart My First Computer.

We are Leap Frog fans as their toys are really educational which we think is the best toy for babies to be exposed with especially in their growing up years. That is why I am happy that B is starting to enjoy her Leap Frog toys. Every night she will take her Leap Pad and will play and read each of the books that she have where she can learn alphabets, colors, shapes and even advance mathematics and vocabulary. Then every time we go out, she always brings along with her, her Leapster and her favorite game is the matching game from her Dora the Explorer and Ratatouille cartridge.

I saw from buy.com that a variety of Leap Frog items are on sale so I am really tempted to buy new cartridge for B. It is worth it anyways as she gets to have fun while learning at the same time.

These are just some of the items on my wish list that I want to buy for baby boy. But I have to check my credit card first if my available balance is still sufficient to buy all of these stuffs because I know for a fact that my credit card bills are piling up already as I have been doing some more shopping for the things that baby boy will need. And it has been my habit to pay the total amount due instead of just the minimum amount so it will not incur any interest.

But my priority is to buy the breast pump on my next credit card cut off and the rest I can buy next time when I have a budget for it (especially the LeSportsac bag since I have a new diaper bag anyways).

I stayed up late thinking if I should attend the graduation or not since I (along with another friend who is also in the honor list) had a problem with one of the teachers and I am thinking if it is still worth it to attend since they already deprive me of the awards that I feel I really deserve because I really work hard for it.

When all the high school body did a standing ovation when my name was called to recognize my contribution for the school.

Excited as it means that a new life awaits me after high school.

There is rainbow after the rain. After what I have gone through in high school, I have used that experience to succeed in the career that I have right now.

My New Project

Since I will be on maternity leave for a minimum of 60 days starting end of June, I figured that aside from taking care of baby boy, I can use that time to do something where I can earn extra. Our expenses will surely double since we will be hiring a second nanny, then add to that our expenses for milk, vaccines, diapers, etc so I will really need an added source of income.

So I am starting a new project again (my friends can probably guess what that is). From six, I know have seven domains to maintain. As my domains are increasing and increasing I am now thinking that maybe I should get data center hosting instead of relying on free hosting so I will be guaranteed 100% uptime plus all my domains will have a safe backup. These domains have been my bread and butter so it is just right that I should give proper care and attention to it.

But for the meantime, I will have to work on my new baby first and will worry about the hosting when I am finish with my new project. Wish me luck guys.

Family's Future Needs

I can’t imagine my life without my work. I’ve had a stable work for almost a decade now and I’ve been so used to my kind of lifestyle now all because of what I earn. But what will I do if I lose all the perks that I have?

This made me realize that work isn’t just enough. I should not depend only with this to support our family’s needs, as this might not be forever. So I asked some advise to my good friends and they suggested that I should start investing on things. Just like what they do, they buy gold bullion and they have already started their own business so that just in case they came to a point that they cannot work anymore, they still have something to depend on.
