Back Up Plan

Because of the economic recession, a lot of budget cuts have been implemented at work. I can’t help but worry what would be the future is for us. Will they have position cuts too as they always say that our section is over staffed?

This got me into a realization that my job is not stable anymore as it used to be. I have to find other means of income or investment so no matter what happens at work, weather I will be part of the laid off employees or not, then at least I have a back up plan.

One of my plans is to buy gold coins for investment. Gold is a very good and very stable investment as it doesn’t depreciate over time. Since it is also widely accepted, I can easily convert it to cash and sell it.

I did some research and found out about United States Gold Bureau. They have highly experienced staffs who know the market so they can help me to get the best offer in the market for gold. They can even arrange for the gold delivery right away or help me arrange for a safe storage from an independent bank.

No time is better than now to do this investment. At least no matter what happens at work, I will have a peace of mind that my family will be covered since I have other investments that I can rely on.

Food 4 Thought Friday

Breakfast What is your favorite thing to eat for breakfast?
Hotdog, pancakes, egg, ham.

Lunch What is something that you are disappointed about right now. Something I discovered that I never really expected and it is giving me sleepless nights now.

Dinner What is in your fridge right now? Fruits, juices, mayo, all kinds of stuff.

Midnight Snack What are you really anticipating right now? To finish all my pending job so I can take a rest.

Recipe of the Week (instead of your recipe for life, what is it just for this week?) Never trouble, trouble until trouble troubles you.

Straight Out Of the Camera Sunday

These are just some of the pictures that hubby took when we went on an out of town vacation last weekend at Tanauan, Batangas. He actually brought the camera that he bought for me during this trip but since I am 7 months pregnant, I was so lazy to get up early and take pictures with him. (So maybe I will just have my photography 101 course from hubby after I give birth. LOL.)

So for now, I will just share here the pictures that hubby took. He actually took a lot of photos but these are just some of my favorites:

We stayed at a resort that is facing the Taal Lake and so when hubby woke up the next morning, he went on a stroll outside the resort to take these nice pictures. Places like this are hubby’s favorite because he feels that he can really relax and he feels so close to nature which is really so calming for him.

My Nanay

Meet my grand mother. She is already on her 8Os but she is still so healthy. Maybe it is because she lives a very healthy lifestyle when she was still young. She watches what she eats, she doesn’t drink alcohol and she doesn’t even smoke.

But we know that she is not getting any younger and so we always make sure that we take good care of her health by giving her supplements and vitamins. Big thanks to JazzMedical because this is where we order her medical supplies. We want to make sure that she has adequate supply of vitamins and supplements and we can easily do this because we can just order everything online from JazzMedical. What is even best about them is that their prices are really low as compared to other medical supplies store. They even accept Paypal or other credit cards for a more convenient and secure shopping experience for us.

My grand mother was the one who took care of me since birth up to the time I was a toddler since my mom was working then. I love her so dearly and I am really thankful for all that she has done for me so now that she is old and can’t take care of herself, it is my turn to return back what she did for me.

Happy for my dad

My dad retired from work several years ago. But since he is so used to earning his own money and being so pre-occupied with work, I noticed that he is feeling a little depress lately since he is so bored at home doing nothing.

But these past few days, hubby and I noticed that he is back to his usual self – the happy and jolly fellow that we used to know. And according to my mom, this is because he was asked by his friend to manage the business that his friend wants to start. Aside from that, he also ventured on a new venture and is also starting his own business. This are the two things that he has been busy with and the more work he has to do, the happier and fulfilled he is.

That is why my siblings and I are all thinking to give him something like perdomo cigars as our good luck gift for him. I am sure he will need all the encouragement and support that he can get especially since it has been a long time already since he ventured into a business and work for somebody.

But I know my dad. This business is definitely his passion so I am sure he will really do well and he will surely succeed. I am really happy for him.

Is working Really hard...

Dark Circles
Eye Bags

No woman would like to have this, but as for me, I am happy even if I have to deal with eye bags and dark circles. I feel very blessed because I have been showered with continuous work and I am happy that my two current employers is happy with how I work that they are giving me more work to do which means, additional income for me.

I have received emails from them on the list of the things that I need to do. I was overwhelmed at first but I already started working on them and with good time management, I was able to meet their deadline.

I am already getting used to the routine actually and hopefully I will work faster next time. I am a bit unproductive this week because B got sick but I have to get back to my groove as I still have a lot of items in my To-Do list that I wish to finish before the week ends. Wish me luck!

Dad's Checkup

We went to the doctor yesterday for the check up of our daughter since she has been running a fever since Tuesday. Since hubby’s doctor holds clinic in the same office as our daughter’s pediatrician, I told hubby to have a check up also since he was requested to come back for the result of his SGPT exam.

His SGPT is still higher compared to the normal values. His doctor already ruled out everything possible so he doesn’t know now what could be causing the problem. But he was asked by his doctor to go on a diet (I will really have to read about lipozene reviews as I need to find the best diet solution for hubby) as this is the last thing that hubby hasn’t tried.

He was also asked to have another ultrasound again so his doctor can check his liver and if everything looks normal, then there is no need to worry. We we’re not able to get the results of the ultrasound yesterday and so I have to call the clinic on Monday for the result. I just hope and pray that everything is just normal for hubby’s liver and that his doctor can finally declare that there is no need for us to worry.

Saturday Six – SlappyBear’s Random Six

1. What did you have for breakfast? Noodles (Palabok) that my husband ordered for delivery from the nearest fast food chain from our house.
2. When was the last time you had a party? Last November I organized a party to celebrate the birthday of my daughter. We had three parties – one at Jollibee where we invited our closest friends and relatives, one party at her school for her teachers and classmates and the last one was at our favorite orphanage.
3. Do you like my 3D shades I’m wearing in my Twitter picture? (@SlappyBear) Yes I like it, it is so cute.
4. If you had a choice of living anywhere in the world, where would it be? Canada perhaps. I have been to Canada twice already and I like it there since people are nice, it looks safe and the benefits that they give their citizens are very good.
5. Do you think 3D television is really going to be the next big thing? Could be, nothing is impossible really with all the advancement in technology.
6. What are you thinking right now? Not then but now!!! My To-do list. I am really unproductive this week that I haven’t accomplished much. I hope that I can scratch from my list a whole lot of items before the start of another week.

Time to go Shopping?

“Why are you wearing my shirt?” This is what hubby asked when he saw me wore his shirt after I took a bath this morning.

You see, since I am already on my last trimester of pregnancy, all my clothes that I normally wear at home no longer fits me so I have to use hubby shirts when at home. He told me to go shopping so I have something to wear at home but I told him that I don’t want to buy expensive clothes since it is just only a matter of two months and I am soon to give birth already. If only the stores in Tutuban have credit card processing, then I would have asked my mom to accompany me there right away so I can buy cheap shorts and blouses that I can wear at home.

Oh well, I love hubby’s shirts since they are comfy especially now that it is summer and it is too hot at home so I can just use his until I give birth. I am sure he will not mind. LOL.

Finally

Finally, after months and months of thinking it over, my friend has finally decided to resign from his current job so he can pursue his dream in the fashion and beauty industry. We had a send off party for him yesterday as he will only be here until end of the month and he will fly to Colorado to attend schooling in one of the fastest growing Cosmetology school in Colorado and in the country, Regency Beauty Institute.

He will study there and then pursue a career in the fashion and beauty industry. We are confident that he will really make it big as this is his real passion and calling and of course, nothing can beat the trainings that Regency Beauty Institute gives to their students. They have excellent facilities as their campuses are like the upscale salons so their students get real hands on experience. They even have good placement connections with salons, hotels and runaways, so they can help their students find jobs after the training.

To my good friend, good luck to your new life in Colorado. I am sure you made the right decision!

Shopping for Baby Boy

I shop online a few weeks ago while hubby is away for baby clothes for our baby boy. (It would have been better if I could here the sound of the barcode scanner as the sales clerk scans each of my items, but since hubby is away and I don’t know how to drive, B and I have no choice but just to stay at home and not be able to go to malls). I got really excited that I bought a lot of pants, shorts, shoes and onesies for baby boy. I thought that shopping for girl clothes is much fun, but then after I am done with my shopping, I realized that shopping clothes for boys can be fun too. I even bought a cargo shorts and shirt for baby boy that is the same as the cargo pants and shirt of hubby and I can’t wait to see them wear it at the same time.

Hubby called me a while ago and he told me that my first box of loots (yes, I am expecting a second box as I got bored one day and shop for more baby clothes again) has arrived already. I am really excited to see all of them later and of course, I am more excited to see my baby boy wear those cute outfits that mommy has chosen for him.

Insurance Talk

I have been very busy online and offline that I really lost track of the other things that I need to do. And I just realized now that we only have a few days left until our car insurance expires. I received a letter from our bank that we have to inform them about our new car insurance plan, other wise if they don’t hear anything from us, they will be using the car insurance accredited to them and they will charge the amount of the insurance to our next monthly amortization.

I was advised by my brother that we should shop around from other car insurance companies as the insurance rate that our bank is offering looks expensive and there might be other companies who offer the same insurance coverage, as the one being offered by our bank, at a much lower price. (I wonder if NC health insurance offer car insurance too aside from health insurance. Guess I better check so I have some other companies to compare to.) My brother knows because he just renewed his insurance also and he got quotes from other insurance companies that are cheaper compared to the one that is being offered to him by his bank. The only problem is he already lost the contact number of his insurance agent. LOL.

I hope that I will be able to find an affordable car insurance before our insurance expires so at least we can save few thousand bucks.

Inconsiderate...Selfish...I Hate it

I was fuming mad yesterday (and even until today) because of a very inconsiderate co-employee. As most of you know, I am already 7 months pregnant and I am really careful because I want to make sure that my baby will be born healthy. So I was really mad when I learned yesterday that the personnel, whose office is just right across my office, have chicken pox.

From what I learned from her friends, as early as 8 AM, she already suspects that she has chicken pox but she requested that her friends stay quite of her condition. I only learned about it Justify Fullaround 10:30 AM already when a friend of hers approached me and warned me not to stay close to her friend because she might have chicken pox and she knows that it is risky for pregnant women like me. The employee lingered in the office until 12 noon and you can even see her walk along the corridors, use the restroom as if she is not posing any risks to her co-employees.

If only she is thinking and if she is really considerate to the well being of her co-employees, she would have gone to the doctor right away to confirm if she has chicken pox or not. With the advancement of technology now, health disease can be easily detected. Imagine even the oxygen saturation of a patient's blood can be easily measured by an oximeter, then determining if you have chicken pox or not wouldn’t have been that complicated.

I was informed by her friends that it is confirmed that she has chicken pox after she visited the doctor yesterday (after staying in the office for four hours and spreading the virus, finally she went to see a doctor. How smart.) I just hope that when she goes back to work, she is really sure that she is already virus free and I hope she would have come to her senses to be at least a little considerate of the other people around her.

Hired or Fired

Do you have a Facebook account? I do but I try to limit my connections by adding only my friends outside of work. As much as possible, I try not to add co-employees and if I can’t say no to their invitation, I made sure that I correctly edit my settings so that they have limited access to my profile, especially to the shout outs that I sometimes post on my wall.

I just thought about it after reading this interesting article: 6 Career-Killing Facebook Mistakes by Erin Joyce, Investopedia.com. Some use Facebook not just for social networking but to get connections to apply for job as well but according to Erin, Facebook can help you get hired or fired.

Here is a list of the 6 Career-Killing Facebook Mistakes according to Erin:

1. Publishing inappropriate pictures
2. Posting shout outs in your wall complaining about your current job.
3. Posting conflicting information to your resume.
4. Publishing statuses you wouldn't want your boss to see.
5. Not understanding your security settings.
6. Losing by association.

This is really on interesting article so you can at least be aware of the danger of posting too much information in Facebook. You can read the full article here.

Quick Dinner Recipes for Me

I am no cook. I love watching cooking shows especially the show of Rachel Ray where she share tips on how to create Quick dinner recipes and I am always amazed at how easy she seems to make it look because in all honesty, I am really at a lost when it comes to cooking.

But my friends are all saying that cooking is easy, it is not rocket science. I am a computer engineer and I can solve computer problems even with my eyes closed so my friends are all saying that cooking should be an easy thing for me.

I actually tried cooking a few weeks after I got married. My first few dishes was a disaster but then after some practice, I was able to prepare simple recipes for my husband which got me really inspired to try out other dishes. His favorite and my specialty (probably because it is the easiest thing for me to cook) is tuna pasta. But then I got pregnant and got lazy (because I found a reason not to cook. LOL) and so I stop trying again.

But even though I am not a good cook, I miss cooking sometimes and of course now that my family is growing, I would want to go back to cooking again so I can serve nothing but healthy meals for my family. I know this will not be a great challenge as there are a lot of sources where I can get tips and recipes to prepare home made dishes for my family. I can easily rely on cook book, online food sites and I can even get tips from all the cooking shows that I have been watching.

So wish me luck and I hope that I will succeed in trying to go back to cooking again.

Hired

Thanks to my kumareng Peachy because she shared with me another sideline that we can try. She actually told me about it about a month ago but I was too lazy to start in trying the project. But I was a witness at how much she earned from this sideline so I got inspired and finally, during the long weekend last week, I was able to sit down and prepare the things that I need to accomplish for this project. And just after a week, I finally got my first job from this sideline – a writer for a website whose products are wedding invitations.

I was really excited upon receiving her email asking me to send samples of my writing and I really feel flattered and honored because she loves my style of writing. I actually haven’t started my work with her as she is still preparing the instructions that she needs to give to me to get me started but I am really excited already. You know how much I love wedding preparations and so being hired as a writer to write about something that I love would really be a great job opportunity.

I hope this is just the beginning and hope to get more jobs from this sideline as I need all the moolah that I can get to save up for the coming of our new baby.

Looking for Car Insurance

Can you recommend a cheap insurance for our car? I am almost in panic mode because I just received from the mail today another email from our car dealer reminding us that we should renew our car insurance already as it is due to expire by the end of the month.

I was actually shocked at how expensive car insurance can get but my friends advised us that we should look for other insurance companies since getting in-house insurance from car dealers is really expensive.

I actually checked the coverage for our current insurance so I can compare it when I get insurance quotes and hopefully, we will be able to find a much affordable car insurance than what our dealer is offering us before the end of this month. Otherwise, the bank where we got our car loan, will automatically include in our next amortization the car insurance bill that our car dealer is charging us.

Hope you can help me find some leads.

He is Going Home

Hubby promised that he will go online again this afternoon so instead of taking a nap, I decided to search about hormonal acne (which I think is what I have) while waiting for hubby to go online.

It is 6:30 PM already in hubby’s part of the world. I was able to talk to him this morning and he said that he has to go out to hear mass and go to town to check if he can buy souvenirs and pasalubongs for us. Yup, she is doing some souvenir shopping already as he is bound to go home this coming Tuesday.

I can’t believe that three weeks passed by just like that. I can’t say that it has been an easy, smooth sailing three weeks without hubby as there are nights when I was really crying because I miss hubby so much already and I can’t stop wishing that he is just beside me. Call it over acting and corny, but I guess no matter how many times hubby leaves for training or temporary assignment, no matter how short the trip is, I will always feel this way.

But I am glad that B and I survived the three weeks without hubby and three more nights left and hubby is back here with us. B and I are already ready to drive to NAIA to fetch hubby on April 6 and give him our biggest welcome – a warm hug and kiss from her two darlings.

Gucci from Faye

It was a quiet week in Twitter, Facebook and Flickr as most of my online friends are hibernating and is enjoying the long weekend to bond with their families or reflect. But things change in Flickr after they saw this:

A new item on sale from our favorite online seller and friend, Faye. It was just yesterday when Faye uploaded the pictures and there are a lot of comments already (bag addicts. LOL).

But who can resist this Gucci bag. I know I just posted about Long Champ Planetes but after seeing this, looks like I will have a change of heart (that is if I can afford it. LOL. Otherwise I will just have to bear with my blackhead which I will be getting since I will surely have sleepless nights because of this bag.)

We are all waiting for the email of Faye because she promised to send us a private message regarding the prices of these bags. Oh, this is really a perfect bag for me since I really like big bags since I have a lot of stuffs to put inside it. I am really hoping that I can really afford this bag (crossing my fingers. LOL.)

Longchamp Planetes

Loving this:

(Picture snagged from Bagshop.com. This site must be using the best seo optimization software as they are the first site that was on the list of Google when I did a search for Longchamp Planetes bags).

I know I promised that I will not be buying any bags until the last quarter of this year but I am so loving this bag especially after knowing that they have it in my favorite color. What I love about Long Champ bags is that they are not hard to maintain so I can carry it with me on trip to the malls, to the beach or just about anywhere but still, they look so cute and fashionable.

My friends are saying that if I am already having sleepless nights because of this bag, then it is a sign that I should stop my suffering and buy the bag. LOL. So let’s see up to when I can say no to temptation.

American Idol S9 Top 10 Performances

I was able to watch the performances this week of the Top 10 finalists of the Season 9 of American Idol. It was so cool as they are having an R&B theme that night and guess who mentored the contestants? It was Usher.

Here is the song lists for this week’s theme:

Siobhan Magnus – “Through The Fire” by Chaka Khan
Casey James – “Hold On I’m Coming” by Sam & Dave
Michael Lynche – “Ready For Love” by India.Arie
Didi Benami – “What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted” by Jimmy Ruffin
Tim Urban – “Sweet Love” by Anita Baker
Andrew Garcia – “Forever” by Chris Brown
Katie Stevens – “Chain Of Fools” by Aretha Franklin
Lee DeWyze – “Treat Her Like A Lady” by Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose
Crystal Bowersox – “Midnight Train To Georgia” by Gladys Knight & the Pips
Aaron Kelly – “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers

Sadly I forgot to watch the elimination night last Thursday. I was even so excited the night before as I wanted to watch Usher’s performance (thank goodness for Youtube as I was able to watch the video there). Ruben Studdard, American Idol Season 2 winner performed too.

So who are the contestants who are part of the Bottom 3?

Katie Stevens
Didi Benami
Tim Urban

And it was Didi Benami who got the lowest votes that night and was sent home. Here is a video of her performance:

On my 28th week

I am already on my 28th week of pregnancy and as I was reading on Baby Center’s website, my baby now weighs two and a quarter pounds now and is about 14.8 inches from the top of her head to her heels already. My baby is also starting to blink his eyes already while inside my womb and has already gained more body fat (now I am thinking if I should have another 4D ultrasound again. LOL).

So I am already on my last and final trimester and they say that if I am an average pregnant woman, I would be gaining 11 pounds this trimester (that gives a total of 143 pounds by the time I am already on my full term. Thank goodness I can purchase adipex without prescription so I can immediately start taking it after I give birth.).

I will have my check up again next week and I am sure I have gained another 4-5 pounds. My tummy is getting heavier and heavier everyday that it is getting difficult already for me to walk. My baby is getting really so active also inside my tummy doing a lot of somersaults and sidekicks but I am excited every time I feel him move as it only shows that he is doing okay inside me.

Hubby and I can’t wait for the coming of our baby boy. Ate B too who is excited to be a big sister already for her baby brother. Just two more months and I can finally be able to hold him in my arms…

DJ Mo Twister tweeting in Paris

“i just had the most unbelievable jog, watched the morning come up at the louvre. empty, cold, rainy, frozen fingers, joy.”

“rented a bicycle, rode along the river, sitting on a bench having a choco crepe off the street, alone looking at sweethearts, loving my life”

These are just some of DJ Mo Twister’s tweets. I have been following him in twitter for a while now because he is so funny and his tweets are really so interesting. He is in Paris right now. According to him, he flies to Paris twice a year to walk the side of River Seine.

I can just imagine why he wants to do this every year. Hubby and I have been to Europe just a few months ago and walking along the side of the river is one of the things that we love to do almost every night in our five day stay in Paris. How I wish I can be like Mo Twister and fly to Paris twice a year too but I don’t think that would be possible as it is really one expensive city, not to mention that the airfare from Manila to Paris is expensive too. How I wish I can have training in Paris so my airfare will be free. I heard from a colleague that they are offering training on POS systems (which we support) in Paris but I don’t think my company will be sending me over there for the training since we are having a tight budget because of the recession. Or maybe I should just wait for hubby to have another training in Germany and I will join him again and we can fly to Paris from Germany. It is just a few hours flight from Germany and I even saw a bus company offering land travel to Paris.

I really so envy Mo but oh well, maybe I can just look at our Paris pictures again to bring back memories when hubby and I went there.
