As I was doing my research for our Singapore trip, here are some of the tips and information that I learned that I want to share here.
* If you are looking for a place to shop for gadgets specially for photographers’ gears (this is the one that I researched bout since my husband would be looking for accessories for his SLR camera), you can check out Sim Lim Square or Funan IT Mall. But make sure you buy from stores that look reliable. Buy also from store that offers tax rebate for your purchases especially if you’re purchasing big items.
* For restaurants, you can try Marche at Suntec City, the Jumbo Seafood Restaurant that serves delicious chili crab, Newton Circus and Clark Quaye. It was also suggested that tourist should try the hawker centres as it offers the cheapest place to eat in Singapore.
* There are a lot of malls in Sinagpore but my friends recommend the VIVO City, Takashimaya, and Lucky Plaza. You can also try Mustafa Mall which is open 24 hours to find cheap perfume, souvenirs, chocolates, etc.
* For money changers, the money changers at Lucky Plaza offer competitive rates than most money changers.
* For transportation, having an EZ link card (contact less fare card that you can use in buses and trains) is recommended for convenience of travel. You can get EZ Link cards from MRT stations and this can be topped up in any 7-11 stores or fare card vending machines.
* Singapore offers tax refund for tourists. If you spent $100 or over in a store, you can ask for a tax refund slip with the receipt. You can claim the refund from the Tax Refund counter at Orchard road or at the airport.
* For suggestions of places to visit, itineraries, hotel information, etc, visit the Uniquely Singapore website.
* If you are traveling with a toddler, visit the Singapore for kids website for suggestions of places to visit and activities for your kids.
I hope you will find these tops and information useful if ever you plan to visit Singapore.
