I made a post here a couple of days ago and I made a statement that I am the type of person who can commute to and from work without hassle. But due to the heaven rains this week, I almost arrive late for work for a week now and I always find it hard to commute going home since a lot of commuters are stranded due to heaven rains.
And then this evening, my dad and I are working on our schedule since I have to ask him to deliver something for me at work which he has to squeeze in to his busy schedule. So he commented that these are the reasons why we need to buy a second car.
Of course having a second car would be a great convenience for us since it means that we have a car to use every time my dad has to use our car to take Bela to school. But of course, we also have to consider a lot of things before deciding on buying a second car or not.
First on our list of considerations is our budget. We still have an existing housing loan so it means that we really have to check first if we can add to our budget an additional amortization for our car loan. Second, is the ever increasing gasoline price. Is it still worth it to use a car to work even if the prices of gasoline are sky rocketing? Then we also have to consider the parking space. Since we live in the city, we don’t have enough space for parking for a second car. It is good if we will be able to find a parking space for rent like London Parking for Rent so we won’t have to think of where to park our second car safely.
I think this list can go on and on but the bottom line is convenience in life is not free. There should always be a price that we have to pay in order to get some convenience in life, and for now, maybe we still can’t afford to pay that price.
