Goodbye Spike. We will miss you!

On our second day in Singapore, I received an SMS message from my brother. I was so shocked after reading it and I don’t know how I would react. Spike, our Shitsu was found dead in my parent’s bedroom.

Spike has been with us for years now. He is my sister’s best friend and my father treated Spike like he was one of his son. I don’t know how I would give the bad news to my father as I know that he would really feel bad about it, so my mother and I decided to break to him the bad news when we got back from our vacation.

And just as we suspected, my father was not able to take the bad news well. He really cried so hard that it was like he lost his own son. He kept on saying that Spike would still be alive if he was only home. We know how much he felt bad for Spike’s lost and we know that he would really have a hard time accepting the truth.

I immediately called my brother to tell him how my father reacted to the news and so we both decided to buy my dad a new dog. My brother immediately went home with our new Shitsu and my father’s eyes grew big in happiness after seeing his new dog which he named Spike also. He kept on thanking my brother and he immediately attended to Spike. He bought him food and milk and fed him right away. I even heard him talking to Spike and promising him that he will never ever live him again.

The next day, my dad went to the veterinarian to ask for vitamins for Spike. He even purchased a new dog bedding and dog food for Spike.

We are all glad that my dad feels better now. We will truly miss Spike and we are glad that he has become a part of our lives.
