Using your CP to connect to the net

Desperate times calls for desperate measure. As my Internet is still down for five days now, and I really have to go online at home, I have to find ways on how I can do that while waiting for Smart to fix my Internet connection problem.

And so I found the easiest solution to my problem. I used my cellphone to connect to the Internet. It is just easy, just follow the steps below:

Note: These steps are for SMART subscribers only

1. You have to have a phone that is capable of MMS and 3G Then you have to activate MMS and 3G capability on your phone. You can do this by typing

MMS ON and send it to 3401
Set 3G phone model (e.g. N71) and send to 211

2. You will then receive a text message containing the configuration settings for your phone. You just have to save these settings. And if you will be asked to enter the security code, just type in 1234
3. Then install PC Suite on your PC.
4. Connect your phone using the data cable and run PC Suite.
5. From PC Suite, click “Connect to the Internet”. This will automatically connect you to the Internet without the need for TCP/IP configuration.
6. Once connected, you can now browse the web.

It is a little sluggish though. I don’t know if it is because of my PC or my phone but I can make do it without instead of not having any Internet connection at all.
