How many credit cards do you have?

I have four. Yes, you read it right. I maintain four credit cards which is really giving me a real headache as I have to monitor each one of them. And I admit, there are times that I really can’t control my expenses since I know that I can always rely on my credit card.

But since I’m preparing for one important project, I have to learn how to save in order to make this project into a reality. My first move is to reduce my credit cards to at least two. This will really help me save since I can reduce my credit card expenses (which really take up a big chunk of my monthly salary).

  • My first card is from Citibank. I don’t want to give up this card as this is my most reliable card. It has a high credit limit and it is widely accepted abroad and even to remote places here and abroad.

  • My second card is from BPI. Again, I don’t want to give up this card since this is the card that I use for my appliance purchase like TVs, washing machine, audio racks, video camera and a whole lot more. Every quarter they organize an appliance fiesta where I can buy any appliance that I want at deferred payment with less interest. Plus, they triple my credit limit during the entire duration of the appliance fiesta which can allow me to buy my dream appliances.

The second advantage of this card is that I can earn North West miles which can give me free airfare tickets after accumulating enough points.

  • My third card is from HSBC. I rarely use this card but like Citibank, this is a widely accepted card here and abroad.

  • My fourth card is from Standard Chartered Bank. I wanted to give up this card already but since I let my brother use it to buy his Mac laptop at deferred payment, I have to wait for 8 more months until he is finished paying his laptop before I can finally cancel this card.
What do you guys think? Which card should I give up?
