Do you think it is still professional and acceptable if your colleague does this almost every time?
- Arrives to work late
- Five minutes after he logs in, he will go out and do personal errands like
- sending his car to the shop for repair (which takes minimum of two hours to finish so he is out of the office for a good two to three hours)
- goes to the bank to pay his mortgage, settles his bills, and do other baking stuffs
- during those times when his house was under going construction, he would often go out to check out stores to look and buy stuff that he needs for the construction like shower head, window panes, stair lifts, door knobs, etc.
- He would go to the doctor for check up during office hours
- And when he comes back, he can very well pretend that he has been busy doing work related stuff. And what’s worse is, the boss favors him over us (just because he is male) and so even if it is obvious that he just came back from doing his personal errands, the boss never took notice of it and would not even call his attention.
Hey, that’s why we have vacation leaves, sick leaves and emergency leaves to do things like this in our own personal time and not during office hours. Sometimes it frustrates me to be working with colleagues like this but I realized, ever since I started working here, this has been his regular habit already so I don’t think there is a chance that he will ever going to change. And at the end of the day, I have no choice but to deal with him because what’s important is I’m doing my job well and I get paid for doing it.
