Text message about Earthquake to hit PH: Hoax

So I received a text message today from a colleague forwarding the warning of US GeologicalSociety that a 6.8 magnitude earthquake will hit the Philippine plate Wednesday night.

I panicked and I started to imagine things already, like what would I do if that happens, how can I protect my daughter, what will happen next. I already made a plan on my head on what do I have to do like what should I do to ensure the safety of my daughter. I even made a list on my head too on what are the important things that I have to safeguard like our documents, Bela’s milk and bottle (just in case anything happens, she has her milk supply) and others. I started to feel scared and worried for my family. And with the recent earthquake that hit China, it made me more scared and worried.

I immediately warned my husband and my mom and as soon as I arrived home I instantly look for answers on the Internet and as it turns out, the text message that is being circulated is a hoax. According to the US Geological Survey (USGS) neither the USGS nor Caltech nor any other scientists have ever predicted a major earthquake. They can only make probabilities but they can never really predict the exact time and location of the earthquake.

I just hope and pray that more survivors will be rescued in China and I hope and pray that nothing like this will ever happen to us again.
