New notebook for her birthday

I did not realize that the month of May is almost over and in just a few weeks it is the start of another school year again.

My sister is an incoming second year college student this school year. She is taking up Computer Science and so far, she is enjoying it. And she said that she is all ready for another challenging year ahead of her. There is just one problem though. Her computer broke down last week. And with the incoming school opening, she is sure that she will be flooded with lots of projects and programming exercises which she won’t be able to do without a computer.

Her birthday will be coming soon also so I talked to my brother and suggested that we look for college laptops to check if there is something within our budget that will meet our sister’s requirements. This will be our birthday gift for her. At least it will be something that is very useful for her.

So I checked online for college laptops and so far this two college laptops tops our list:

1. Toshiba Satellite A215-S4697
The price is just rigth for our budget and it has some great features that is perfect for what my sister needs. It has a long battery life which is really good because you know how college life is, they are always on the go. It also has a wireless ethernet card so she can surf the web and do her research works as long as there is an available wifi spot (which is really not difficult to find since wifi spots are everywhere.)

2. Hewlett Packard Pavilion 15.4 DV622
Since most of the laptops that we used at work are HP and we are satisfied with how it works, I’m also considering this model. Its price is a little higher compared to Toshiba in spite the fact that the Toshiba model has a higher Hard Disk Capacity and the Toshiba model can be upgraded to up to maximum of 4 GB RAM while the HP is upgradeable only up to 2 GB.. The advantage though of this HP laptop is that it has a FireWire support which is one of the requirements of my sister.

I never thought that shopping for college laptops can be very confusing so I’ll just let my brother and my sister decide.
