I just got back from our regular weekly meeting and I just found out that our new boss will be arriving here on July 7 so my current boss can give him a proper turnover and briefing about his new assignment. Oh no, now I have a problem! I’m planning to take a leave on July 10-11 for our Singapore trip which means I will be on leave during my boss’s first week here.
I was really worried so I talked to my current boss about my plans. I told him that I already booked our ticket for our trip to Singapore this coming July 10-13 so there is now way I can change the booking. He said that I shouldn’t worry since it is still him who will approve my leave plans since he is still my boss until last week of July and he doesn’t see any problems with it since it is really a planned leave.
But he was so surprised to find out that this early; I already made a booking for our hotel accommodation and our airfare. He commented, “So you really plan ahead.”
Yes, that is how I make my travel plans. Because unlike him who is found of booking last minute flights and last minute hotels, I’m the time of traveler who makes bookings and reservations way in advance so I can get cheap flights.
That is my travel secret. Sometimes my friends and relatives are asking how we can afford to travel twice or even thrice a year. Well, the secret is you really have to plan ahead so you can get really good deals and cheap flights and cheap hotel accommodations. What I notice every time I book for a trip is that, the earlier I book, the cheaper is the air fare and accommodations. So that is what I have been doing ever since. Like for this Singapore trip, I booked our air line tickets with Jetstar four months in advance so I was really able to save big bucks.
For budget traveler like me, I really have to find ways on how we can afford to travel that won’t hurt our budget. And that is my secret.
