I have converted my Citibank points to World Perks Miles since I planned to use it for our Singapore trip. But then when I called North West airlines, I learned that Cebu Pacific is no longer a part of their sky team.
So what does this mean? Since they no longer use Cebu Pacific as a partner airline, we have to take other partner airlines of North West like Malaysia Airlines or Japan Airlines. These airlines don’t fly direct to Singapore so if we take, for example, Japan Airline, we have to go to Japan first before proceeding to Singapore. So what normally is a 4 hour flight from Manila to Singapore will become a six to 8 hours flight. So we didn’t use our miles for our Singapore ticket and instead we just booked our flight when Cebu Pacific had a promo.
This coming November, my daughter will be celebrating her third birthday and instead of having a party, we are planning to have an out of the country vacation. Our initial plan was Hong Kong and Macau but then I just realized, we can go to Japan instead since we’ve been to Hong Kong and Macau two times already and we don’t have to pay for our airfare since we can use our miles.
Do you think that’s a good idea? We haven’t been to Japan and they also have a Disneyland there so our daughter will have a great time for sure. But I know that Japan is an expensive city and I’m not sure if our Hong Kong and Macau budget will be enough for travel to Japan.
Oh well, I know it will be a couple of months away so we can further study this option and do more research. I just got excited after thinking about it that’s why I can’t help but blog about it.
